The aim of this website is to offer an overall view of tools and contents presenting the results of our research. The themes we deal with generally have been chosen because of their interest in relation with the field of Science and technology Studies. Hence, this field of multidisciplinary research in social science covers what we call Science and Technology Studies (STS). In this context, we focus on different research topics usually related to our research projects
"Science, technology and visualisation" attempts to connect STS and visual representation of information. Indeed, the usually important amount of information and the complexity of the described mechanisms is an obstacle to an efficient comprehension and analysis of these phenomena. Therefore, considering our research approach, producing original contents in order to make the complexity of information and the described phenomena more understandable, immediate and attractive leads to the question of the visualization of information.
To achieve these goals, tree dimensions structure the contents (main content types: results, tools, visualization) presented here:
- STS and implied dynamics (improvement of knowledge, innovation, structuring in scientific and technical fields) in which special attention is paid to the geographical, territorial and institutional location.
- The methodological perspective needed to drive these researches : these studies are based on a pluridisciplinary approach (management, sociology, geography, scientometrics) and require skills in methodology and computer science (significant volumes of data and processing)
- Visualisation of the results
See below the main visualisations (networks of inventors or applicants, geographical maps, treemap…) that present our results and facilitate the understanding of the phenomena.
