This map represents participations in projects of the 5^th, 6^th and 7^th Framework Programs in the areas of nanosciences and nanotechnologies.
There is a collaboration between 2 Functional Urban Areas (FUA) when organisations located within the boundaries of a FUA participate in the same project than organisations located in a second FUA.
FUAs (nodes) and collaborations (links) constitute a network. A cluster analysis was realised to identify the type of position of the FUA in their cluster: 'core', 'intermediary' or 'periphery'.

This map has 3 layers (displayed by default):

• FUA: outlines of the geo-spatial location of Functional Urban Areas. Only FUAs with a core or an intermediary position are displayed.
• Nodes: each FUA participating in at least one project is represented by a dot, its size being proportional to the funding received.
• Links: represent the collaboration between FUAs. The thickness represents the number of projects.
